Somatic Release Therapy (SRT)
We write our story in our own language on the pages of our tissues in our own way.
– Joanne Sarah Avison
Stress is something that is experienced and expressed in the body and is very unique to each individual. We can’t change the stress but we can influence our response to it.
When we were young (and our nervous systems were young) we learned ways to cope and keep a sense of self in intense moments that were helpful and that served us at the time.
At some point along the way, what once served us is no longer effective and keeps us trapped in past experiences or stuck on future projections.
What becomes useful is releasing these old coping strategies, unwinding and finding more helpful pathways that keep us in this moment.
SRT gives you permission to absolutely settle, feel inward and make contact with sensation that doesn’t play tricks on us like our thinking body (it is the primal language we have with ourselves).
SRT uses many modalities and techniques (movement, breathing, meditation, dialogue, visualization etc.) to embody all the parts of you, allow more of the parts of you to be felt and facilitate an effective management strategy for your responses to stress.
